Langkawi is indeed one of the top quick getaways to go in Malaysia. It’s known for beautiful white sand beaches, clear turquoise waters, picturesque landscapes, lush forests, the mesmerizing overlooking view from the top mountains, different water activities, and foods to try.
It’s paradise!
Klook.comThese are your top 5 must-see places on your quick getaway in Langkawi this 2023.
Planning where to go is fun, but sometimes it can be so overwhelming when there’s so much to see.
I’m here to share with you the top 5 must-see places you should add to your list when you visit Langkawi.
Just before you pick any place to go on your next adventure in Langkawi, take note that there is no public transport on this island. You will need to take a taxi, or if you drive, then you can rent a car or a scooter. Renting would be a great option as this will help you easily get around and enjoy each place without worrying about how to get back to your hotel.
1. Start with the newest attraction — the new MAHA Tower in Kuah
This is one of the newest tourist attractions in Langkawi. If Kuala Lumpur has Petronas Twin Towers, Langkawi has the Maha Towers or Menara Maha. It is a massive 138-meter-tall steel structure located in the town of Kuah.
You can already enjoy taking photos outside but if you want to make the most of this, you can get access to level 18’s Sky Lounge and Level 33’s Sky Deck.
There you can further appreciate the open view of Kuah town and Kuah bay until Pulau Dayang Bunting. That means, a 360-degree view of Langkawi.
Ticket prices are as follows:
- for Malaysian Adults (13 years old to 60 years old) – MYR 39
- for Malaysian Senior Citizens (61 years old and up) – MYR 23
- for Malaysian Children (3 years old to 12 years old) – MYR 23
Operating hours are from Monday to Sunday including public holidays from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
2. Don’t miss getting a photo taken at the popular statue in Dataran Lang
You can find the iconic statue of the russet eagle here, so it is a must-see place in Langkawi. Did you know that this is where the island’s name is derived from? “Helang” means eagle while “Kawi” means reddish brown. By putting them together, hence the name Langkawi. That big Eagle statue stands 12 meters high or 39.3 feet. This welcomes visitors to the island arriving via ferry or cruise ship.
It’s best to stand in front of the eagle’s base to capture that big LANGKAWI as your picture backdrop. You instantly get a souvenir of its own. Your beautiful photo will undeniably prove you’re in Langkawi
The place is called Eagle Square or Dataran Lang in the local language, Malay. The landscape square features restaurants, bridges, and ponds. Sunsets are really beautiful here too. It is also beautifully illuminated at night.
The complex is open 24/7 and your wallet is safe because Admission is free.
3. Visit the beautiful Thean Hou Temple
You may want to pay a visit to this magnificent temple. This temple features a combination of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism in its architectural design. It has the representation of a successful combination of modern architectural techniques and authentic traditional design.
Seeing the beauty of the place in the picture is not enough. Get there and be welcomed by this captivating temple featuring imposing pillars, stunning roofs, elaborate carvings, and detailed embellishments. You will love the ambiance of this place and the place is quiet.
Save your wallet because Thean Hou Temple has no admission fee to enter. Since this is a temple, donations are always welcome.
The temple is open from 8 am to 8 pm every day.
4. Visit the exquisite Al – Hana Mosque
You may want to include a halal trip on your quick getaway in Langkawi, then the Al-Hana Mosque or Masjid Al-Hana is a must-see place for you. It is one of the oldest, and most visited mosques on the island. See photos here.
The visitors are required to remove their shoes outside the mosque and maintain silence. Make sure to be modest as a show of respect. As the old saying goes, “Knowledge will give you power, but character respect.”
The mosque is open 24 hours and admission is free to all.
5. Experience these 3 Panorama Langkawi activities
I also have a special tip for you to make your trip even more special!
Enjoy the 4 times Langkawi SkyCab rides
The Langkawi SkyCab connects to 3 stations. It starts at the base station within Langkawi Oriental Village, then it will stop in the middle station. Here you can access an observation platform with views over the eastern mountains.
If you want more bird’s eye view, then you can take the cable car up even higher to the top station which is 708m above sea level.
Whether it’s your first time taking a cable car or not, you will probably have that teeny-tiny feeling of being shaky and scared due to the height. Once you get on the cable car and see the beautiful view around, that frightened feeling will be gone.
You will take 2 rides going up and 2 rides going down. Don’t be shy to wave to other cable cars passing by from the opposite direction. Share that fun energy!
Take the Langkawi SkyGlide to reach the Langkawi Sky Bridge
From the top station, there is only one SkyGlide Cabin, so expect to queue here for maybe a short while.
The said SkyGlide Cabin will take 94 meters of track length, and it can accommodate up to 12 passengers per trip. It takes less than 2 minutes to reach the Langkawi Sky Bridge on the other end.
Taking the SkyGlide is optional as there is a designated path where you can walk to the next stop which is the Langkawi SkyBridge.
It would probably be not the highlight of the entire trip, but still, you will appreciate taking this to save your energy and exert that while walking along the Langkawi SkyBridge instead.
Enjoy the stunning view at the top of Langkawi SkyBridge
No matter what you chose to reach the Langkawi SkyBridge, what matters now is you’ve made it! Look around and enjoy nature calling you to appreciate the beauty around you. Tell yourself how blessed and how strong you are. You’re literally on top of the world!
I still feel the same excitement as I watch the short reels of me running on top of the Langkawi Sky Bridge.
(I may put my IG in private at times, you can follow me in IG and see this reel here)
Take your time as you enjoy the walk and Langkawi’s natural loveliness. Admire the panoramic view from the rainforest to the waters.
The Panorama Langkawi activities come in different packages and prices. There are different cable cars to choose from: glass bottom, panorama, private, and VIP gondola.
I recommend checking Klook for any available promotions. They are open from 9:30 am until 7:00 pm every day.
Yay! Those are the top 5 must-see places on your quick getaway in Langkawi this 2023.

Make your Langkawi trip extra special
As I have promised, I would be sharing a special tip for you to make this trip even more special! It’s not just a getaway but a lifetime memory that you’ll always cherish.
What would you think about sending mail from the highest post box in Langkawi?
Take that special moment you were there and share it with your loved ones back home. You can send it domestically which is obviously within Malaysia or even internationally.
You can drop a postcard, letter, or greeting card. Isn’t it cool?
Before you go back down, go ahead and send mail from the only post box on the top of the mountain in Langkawi, the SkyPOS!
If this is something that interests you, I highly suggest preparing and bringing your postcards, letters, or greeting cards beforehand.
Aside from you being ready to drop it in the SkyPOS once you are there, you would want to avoid the disappointment of not being able to do it after knowing that you could have prepared it ahead.
(note: I’m still a little sad about not being able to do it myself because all forms of postcards, letters, or greeting cards were sold out on there)
As how it usually is, the delivery time will vary depending on the location. According to Panorama Langkawi SkyPOS, it would take normally 4-5 days for the local destination, while it would take 2-3 weeks for an international address.
When you are at the top station, you can also enjoy checking out the souvenir store (SkyBoutique) or get some snacks at the bistro (SkyBistro). If you like the idea of love lock engraving, you can also do so.
There are many things worth seeing in Langkawi. I hope that these top 5 must-see places for your trip in 2023 will be rewarding for you.
I always believe that when you explore new places, you should not feel guilty but know that you deserve it!

Friendly tips for you:
Make sure to check the weather forecast before visiting Panorama Langkawi to avoid any issues. Note that refunds are not given due to inclement weather.
There are different queues if you book online like Klook. If it’s a public holiday when many locals visit the place, then there may be longer queues than usual.
It’s not surprising when it suddenly rains in Malaysia, so make sure to also carry an umbrella with you. Consider bringing raincoats if you plan to drive a scooter or motorbike.
No matter which place you decide to go, enjoy the moment and have fun!
